The Community Care Thrift Store (CCTS) was started in 2009 as a ministry of the Thomaston First Baptist Church but now is a separate, independent, non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization managed by Mrs. Betty Goins, guided by a board of directors. The store, located at 108 Short E Street in Thomaston, Georgia, appreciates donations of gently-used household goods (home decor, linens, decorations, books, toys, lamps, dishes, utensils, small appliances, etc.) and clothing. Proceeds from the store are given to Upson County benevolence. Some of the recipients are the Upson County Ministerial Association (Community Assistance Program and Cancer Car Ministry), Silvertown Baptist Church Soup Kitchen, the Heritage Family Resource Center, the House of Care, “Food for Thought” which provides snacks for children who need it on weekends.
When you donate, you benefit, and the community benefits because your donations are tax deductible, the store provides items for people to purchase at low prices, and the proceeds benefit our community.
Many of the smiling faces you see in the store are volunteers, but we always need more volunteers to help us process the donations. You can volunteer whenever you have time or on a scheduled basis. The store hours are 9:00-5:00on Monday through Friday and Saturday from 9:00 until 2:00. If you questions, please call the store at 706-646-4496.
